Last week, there were two tennis players found unconscious and both of them were revived by using AED.
One of the cases: A male, 55-year-old tennis player was found collapsed and unconscious in Tsing Yi Park Tennis Court by his friends at 5pm on 11 of April. He has suffered from SCA and his friends have called the police and emergency service immediately. One of his friend was an off duty ambulance man and he took an AED from the office of the court. He used the AED and applied CPR in the next 5 minutes. The patient was saved and sent to Princess Margaret Hospital after the ambulance has arrived. He had to stay in the hospital for further observation.
Another 60-year-old man was collapsed while playing tennis at Craigengower Cricket Club in Happy Valley at 8pm on 3 of April. Someone has used AED to save him immediately. He was saved and sent to hospital for resuscitation and stayed in ICU for further observation.
5 minutes after sudden cardiac arrest is the golden time to save the patient. Every minute passed, the chance of survival of the patient would be lower 7-10%.
