A male runner, aged 50, was participating in the Standard Chartered HK Marathon 10km race on 21 January. He collapsed at the 6km mark near the Island Eastern Corridor at 08:10 in the morning. On-duty First Aider attended the runner and applied CPR and AED on-site while ambulance were called to the scene. It took about 26 minutes after he collapsed to get the patient onto the ambulance. The ambulance arrived at Ruttonjee Hospital at 08:40. The paramedics kept performing CPR on him. After initial resuscitation, he was transferred to PYNEH until 24 of January morning. He finally passed away in hospital this morning.
