A 40-year-old man collapsed in the street around 1am today and was confirmed dead after being sent to the hospital. He drank half a dozen of beer at a bar in Tsim Sha Tsui before the accident and was believed to have a medical record.
A&E Specialist suggested that it is possible to fall into acute alcohol intoxication within one hour after drinking as few as six cans of beer. The alcohol concentration in beer is relatively low but one can get intoxicated if he has been drinking non-stop or with an empty stomach. Blood alcohol concentration is the highest within one hour after consumption. Alcohol poisoning can lead to euphoria, low blood pressure and increased pulse, delirium, and ultimately sudden cardiac death.
