22 June (on.cc) Fire Services Department installing AEDs multiple locations throughout Hong Kong to encourage public use of AEDs when needed


The Fire Services Department took the lead in launching the " AED Anywhere for Anyone" " program, installing AEDs in public area. With the increasing number of AEDs, and it is expected defibrillation shock can be given within 3 to 5 minutes after the occurrence of a cardiac arrest.

With the FSD taking the lead, AEDs have been installed outside over 100 fire stations and ambulance depots across the territory for public emergency use. The arrangement hopes the public can "see and use" the AEDs and promote the idea that anyone can use AEDs.

FSD-developed online platform "Centralized AED Registry for Emergency" (CARE) (www.hkfsd.gov.hk/aed), the public can locate the nearest AED location from the webpage, and there are currently more than 900 AEDs distributed in different places in Hong Kong.

In addition, about 20 groups and organizations have participated in the program, including the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Hong Kong Disneyland, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Hong Kong Red Cross, Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Service, and New World Property Management Co., Ltd. The relevant organizations will equip themselves with AEDs.
